FZ8 what oil do you guys use?

My buddy shoved the cheapest oil he could find and just threw it in a bike, many years ago, he was using 10w40. But i think the FZ8 would need some better oil, as im sure its a much thirstier motor than his old bike.

So what oil do you guys use now?

My $.02 and others will have different opinions; I recommend using Yamalube. I beleive Yamaha knows what their engines need more then anyone else does.

I've been using Yamalube Full Synthetic for a few years now. (R6, WR450, and now FZ8)

Consider using YL Semi or Full Synthetic, it does cost more but I think you will notice a difference. But if you are on a strict budget YL All purpose oil is more then good enough. Dont use car/truck oil

One other suggestion is use a quality oil filter. You get what you pay for. I would use Yamaha's filter or a K & N.

Enjoy your FZ!

shell rotella T6. full syn and its JASO - MA . $6 a quart. yamalube is $15 a quart and way over priced!! side note, the yamaha filters are also way over priced and are not of the best quality either.

Yamalube, you get what you pay for. BTY, All Yamaha filters are made by Denso.

I read in a couple other forums that Yamalube is made by CITGO for the U.S., ESSO for Canada, and Torco for other countries.

I posted this in the oil filters section, but I'll repost here just in case, just sharing the crossed threads.

Motorcycle Oil and Filters

Motorcycle Oil Filters & Air Filters

more info than I've ever needed to know about oils and filters, but the inside pictures of some of those filters will make you think twice about what you put on your car, bike, anything....

Here is the page where he cuts the filters open and shows you how cr@ppy some of them are made:
