Default Suspension/Preload question

For those of you already riding the FZ8... did you mess with the rear suspension AT ALL? what did it come from the factory with? middle of the preload or all the way to one or the other?

I am reading how people aren't happy with not being able to really tweak it the way they want to, but since my riding is probably only 20% twisties I'm not so sure I'm really concerned with that as long as it can handle my 185lbs I'm happy.

anyone ?

My FZ8 came with the preload at the middle setting (I forget what the exact numerical value was). I have since turned it up to the hardest setting and I feel that I get better handling on the mountain.

You should check out setting up suspension on "on the throttle" Suspension Set-up on a Suzuki GSX-R600 | although not everything applies since the only adjustment is rear preload, it will give you an idea on what to look for when setting your preload. Playing with the suspension is fun, but I found that, on my Ninja 636, once I got a setting I liked, I left it there pretty much all the time.

i took mine to the stiffest setting as soon as i got it home. i have since backed it off two levels. that seems to be my sweet spot. hypo here is some very good info that i have printed off and put in my toolbox.

Mental stability notwithstanding, what differentiates the road racer from his "short track" kin does lay somewhere between the ears!!
