i work for a ford dealer (no i am not a friggin' car salesman). something we have learned over the course of time is the burden of proof is on the manufacturer. they have to prove what you did or have done is what caused the problem. having said that please remember these large corporations have alot of attorneys and nothing but time. you must pick and choose your battles wisely. i know for instance i have an extra five years of YES. knowing how much i ride and how hard i ride i thought it was the right purchase for me. i also have read the YES guidelines and have had a friend who is a service manager read it also. it's pretty straight forward and simple. follow your maintenance schedule and you will be fine. keep notes as to mileage and receipts for parts.
THERE IS NO LAW THAT SAYS THE CONSUMER CANNOT DO THEIR OWN MAINTENANCE.
